Upcoming College Football Experiences in the Orlando Area

College football is an important part of Florida life and the city of Orlando serves as a central hub allowing easy access to a lot of it. If you are a college football fan, you have a team to root for, right here in town at the University of Central Florida. If you want even more regular season football, Orlando is a short drive from college games in Boca Raton (Florida Atlantic University) and Gainesville (University of Florida).

However, the real Orlando college football action starts in the postseason. Orlando is home to several bowl games. Enjoy serious football by attending these events:

The Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl

This New Year's Day tradition started in 1947 as the Tangerine Bowl and is the nation's seventh oldest bowl game. It has hosted teams from the Big Ten and SEC since 1993. The Venue is Orlando's own Camping World Stadium, located west of downtown Orlando.

The Camping World Bowl

This is Orlando's second bowl game. This event started in Miami in 1990 before being moved to Orlando in 2011. It would be called the Tangerine Bowl for one game, in honor of the original Citrus Bowl. This bowl game hosts teams from the ACC and from the Big 12. The 2017 game will be held on December 28th and the venue will be Camping World Stadium.

The Outback Bowl

This is another game that is typically played on January 1, the Outback Bowl features SEC and Big 10 teams. The venue is Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, which is a little over an hour's drive out of town. Tickets for the 2018 game are available starting August 29 and will cost $80 each.

The Boca Raton Bowl

The Boca Raton Bowl was created in 2013 and features a team from the Mid-American Conference versus a team from Conference USA or from the American Athletic Conference. The game's venue will be the FAU Stadium, located on the Florida Atlantic University campus in Boca Raton, which is less than three hours from Orlando.

In addition to being able to satisfy your college football needs, you have all the regular, Orlando attractions available year-round. You will be within easy driving distance of a range of world-famous Florida attractions like Walt Disney World and Daytona Beach.
