A Look Ahead at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Upcoming Attractions

Here are some of the attractions to looks forward to:

Star Wars fans are anxiously awaiting the opening of the new 14-acre Star Wars’ land that will be named Star Wars: Galaxy Edge. This new land is expected to open in 2019 and will feature expanded character interactions, highly immersive sci-fi havens, new rides, and dining experiences. The Millennium Falcon Ride will allow riders to “pilot” the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.”

A must for diehard Star Wars fans, the Star Wars Guided Tour is set to begin on January 2, 2018. This seven-hour VIP guided tour will take you on a journey of everything Star Wars in Hollywood Studies. Participants get prime seating for Jedi Training and priority boarding on Star Tours – The Adventure Continues.

With the success of its Toy Story Mania ride, the new Toy Story Land expansion at Hollywood Studios is expected to be a great hit when it opens during summer 2018. This new land invites you into Andy’s backyard for new and exciting adventures among his toys, but with a twist; you’ll feel like you’ve been shrunken to the size of a toy. This land will feature the Alien Swirling Saucers ride and a Slinky Dog-themed roller coaster.

Fans of The Great Movie Ride might still be mourning its recent closing on August 13, 2017. However, this ride will be transformed into Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This will be the first ride that is based entirely on Mickey Mouse, out of all the Disney theme parks. Using new “2 and 1/2 D” technology that does not require special eyewear, passengers will be transported through a flat movie screen onto a runaway locomotive with Goofy at the helm as they travel through Mickey and Minnie’s cartoon adventures. While no exact opening date has been provided, it is expected that this ride will open by Fall 2019.
