5 Low Cost Activities You Can Do in Orlando

We know that a family trip to Orlando can get pricey. While everyone loves to visit Mickey and spend time at the theme parks, spending a day doing less expensive activities can help balance out the cost of a Disney vacation.  Here are 5 low cost activities focusing on the culture, nature and other family-friendly activities that you can do with your family in Orlando.

Open Tuesday through Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday and Sundays noon-4pm, the museum offers visitors a look at Contemporary, African and American Art and Art of the Americas. Adult admission is $15 and children 4-17 are $5. Parking is also free in front of the museum. The museum offers youth and adult programs as well and on the 1st Thursday of every month from 6pm-9pm, the museum opens its doors to live music, local artists and a cash bar for visitors along with the $15 entrance fee. 

Located in Winter Garden, West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades Co. offers riding enthusiasts the chance to rent bikes and ride the West Orange Trail. With hourly rentals starting at $7 per hour, or $30 per day, you can ride for as long as you like along the 24 mile trail. The company also provides a delivery service of bicycles if you want to ride elsewhere. Additionally, they provide guided tours for an added fee through the town of Celebration, along the trail and through historic downtown Orlando. Providing a wide range of bikes including tandem bikes, road bikes and trailers for kids, there is something for everyone.

With tours leaving every hour between 10am and 4pm, this leisurely ride takes visitors through the lakes and canals near downtown Orlando. Visitors may see cranes and alligators during their ride through the beautiful cypress trees. Pontoon boats seat up to 18 people. You can catch a boat on the East end of Morse Boulevard on Lake Osceola near the Park Avenue shopping center. Admission is $14.00 for adults and $7.00 for children 2 and over. Be sure to bring cash or check, no credit cards are accepted. 

The crayola experience offers families a hands-on experience with Crayola products. Families can expect to spend 3-4 hours enjoying 26 different activities for kids of all ages. The Crayola Experience is open 365 days a year from 10am-8pm. A single day admission is $23 for everyone over 2 (Military discount of $3 per ticket). Parking is free and Cafe Crayola is on site for lunch and snacks. Kids will have fun creating their own crayons, making drip art and even make their own crayon names and labels. For the littlest ones, there is a tot play area.

Open 7 days a week, Monday through Thursday: 10am-8pm, Friday through Saturday: 10am-9pm, and Sundays: 11am-6pm, the Island Grove Wine Company at Formosa Gardens invites guests to come in an enjoy wine from their very own botanical gardens, food from the Blue Grove Bistro, and craft beer for those guests interested in a more hoppy experience. The winery is a short 15 minute drive from many of the Disney World Parks. Each month the winery features different events and promotions for theirs guests to enjoy.
